OSU East Hospital 12th Floor
OSU East Hospital’s tower was built in the 1960’s and it’s round. It was cutting edge at the time, now it is just a nightmare for space planning. This project required taking 8,600 square feet of the 12th floor that had been two or three doctor’s offices and renovating it into clinic space. The biggest hurdles in the process were creating six-foot-wide corridors within the clinic space to accommodate the movement of gurneys and connecting two areas that are separated by a mechanical room with a small corridor. I was able to create eight individual Exam rooms and two Procedure rooms with all the necessary support space. Of course, there are still limited right angles in the space, but it flows and accommodates the users well.
